It’s Homecoming Week at Weiser High School with lots of fun activities going on at the school. Don’t forget the parade schedules on Friday at 1:00 follow the regular route down Pioneer Road to State Street over the E. 4th and to the football field at Memorial Park. The Powder Puff game will be park of the pep rally activities after the park and will occur at about 2:00 at the football field. The game will begin at 7:00 at the field against the Parma Panthers. Go Wolverines.
Residents along W. 9th Street will be receiving letters explaining the changes from the Electric Department. I want to share that information because many of you drive and walk in that area. The following information comes from Wayne Wallace, our Electric Department supervisor. The City will be replacing the underground power cables in the area starting October 2. The project will consist of installing new 7200-volt cable along the front sidewalks, side yards and the back of properties. They will also be moving the pad- mount transformers out of the backyards and to the front sidewalk areas.
Midvale Telephone will be working with the City during the project with the ending date being around October 20th. The project will be broken into three phases: 1) getting the conduit in; 2) moving the transformers; and 3) changing the power over to the new transformers.

Congratulations to Weiser High School teacher, Michelle Chavez, for being recognized as the Idaho Human Rights Education of the Year. Michelle has spent many days and hours researching the history of the Holocaust and preparing a class to help our kids understand one of the dark days in world history. Through her lessons, hopefully, our children learn from the past to protect our world from repeating the same atrocities from occurring in the future. Congratulations, Michelle.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I will be issuing a proclamation at the fundraising dinner on Monday, October 2 at the Vendome asking all citizens to learn more about preventing domestic violence and showing support for organizations like Rose Advocates that work to provide services, advocacy and assistance to victims. Our community loses when domestic violence occurs. Tickets for the dinner are still available at the Rose Advocate office. Wear purple to bring attention to this crime.
October is a busy month with the Mud Drag Races on Saturday, October 7th beginning at 10 am at Mortimer Island area. Gates open at 9 am and cost of tickets is $7, bring your chair, sunscreen and bug spray.
The 25th Annual Weiser Youth Rodeo will take place on October 14th and 15th in Fred Hust Arena. Another opportunity to come out and support our Weiser Kids.
