Ken and Jeannie are looking for folks to help with some of the booths and activities. In addition, they are still need donations of cakes and cash. Cakes are given away in the cake walk and donations help fund the prizes. If you can help stop in and let them know.
The project on W. 9th Street is progressing with the boring of conduit for the lines. It is expected to be done by the end of October so remember to watch for signage in the area as the departments work on replacing transformers lines, sidewalk and a fire hydrant.
Residents and drivers will be happy to hear a different asphalt contractor has been found to complete the work on W. 4th Street. The Street crew will be re-prepping the area and it should be complete on Thursday, October 19. Thank you for your patience.
Congratulations to Weiser High School alumni, Billy Brooke, on his participation in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. It is exciting to see all the new subjects and projects our kids are exposed to in high school and college. Weiser High School has developed some great students and provides quality education and experiences for our students. Congratulations, too, to his younger brother, Michael for being named a commended student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Well done.
The Ordinance officer will be stopping by to remind residents to remove disabled vehicles from the streets as well as trailers. The Street crew is beginning to schedule jobs for the next month and alley clean up and leaf pick up are part of that schedule. It is difficult to do leaf pick up with extra vehicles parked on the streets. Remember leaves should not be bagged. They should just be raked into the street next to the curb. Yard debris other that leaves should be placed along the alley away from the garbage can should the crew can get the equipment in to remove it.
Congratulations again to the Girls’ and Boys’ Soccer teams for their success in the District tournament. Both teams will be playing Thursday at Vallivue High School at 2:00 pm. The Girls’ will be playing Timberlake and the Boys’ will play Bonner’s Ferry. Go Wolverines. The football team has a bye week and will play either the 27th or 28th. Watch the paper for more details next week.
