We have changed the dynamic of how we handle Sludge removed from the Waste stream. Previously, we would aerobically digest it out, then press it, and then haul it to the drying beds. Once there, we would rotivate it and allow it to dry before land applying the sludge as a beneficial use product to farmers fields.
Today; however, we now press it weekly and haul it to the Landfill. We have discovered that if we do not allow the Phosphorus to precipitate in the sludge during the digestion process and hold it for months at a time, we are better able to meet the new Regulatory guidelines on Phosphorus removal to the Snake River.
