Michael Hopkins was born May 25th, 1959. Attending primary school in Tygh Valley Oregon 1st and 2nd grade. Attending South Baker Elementary School 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades. Graduated from Baker High School in June 1977. He was employed during the summers working on a logging crew from 1977 to 1981. Mike attended Oregon State University beginning in 1977 and graduated from the school of accounting in 1981. He was later employed as a computer input tech for Ellingson Lumber Company, he had the opportunity to work in Burns Oregon later in 1981 through 1983. This opportunity allowed him to receive the education needed to sit for the CPA Exam. In 1981 Mike moved back to Baker with his wife and was employed by Pioneer Federal Savings and Loan. His job responsibilities included balancing the books and records and overseeing the federal audits and working with the FSLIC and regulators. He had the opportunity to acquire a tax and accounting practice in Weiser Idaho in 1987. Mike has worked at his current location at 430 State Street since 1987. Mike served as a Republican Precinct Person West Weiser for 2 terms. I was appointed by Governor Butch Otter to fill the vacancy of Diana Thomas, when appointed to the Idaho State Legislature. Mike served as the Weiser designate on the Washington County Board of County Commissioners for 3 years and was appointed as the Board Chairman. Please contact Mike at mike.hopkins@cityofweiser.net
