The Mayor’s Corner 05/02/2018

Work progresses along the W. 9th Street project area. WWTP is working along Flintlock and will continue this week. The water truck will make passes on Flintlock to help keep the dust down as the work continues. The engineering on the area between Pioneer and Flintlock is currently being done and after approval from DEQ, the work will begin in that area. Watch for signage and detours in the area over the next few weeks.
The Water Department will be completing some work in the Flintlock area as well this week and will move up to Indianhead near W. 9th later in the week. Again, please watch for signage and possible detours in that area.
The Street Department is still working on replacement of ADA ramps along Idaho Street and will be taking some time to grate the alleys in the next couple of weeks. Alley clean up is also on that list.
The Parks and Street Departments as well as members from other departments will be working with the Indianhead Fly Fishers and other community volunteers to clean around the Community Pond on Friday, May 4 beginning about 9 am. There will be a barbecue for workers at noon sponsored by Falls Brand Meats and the City. Come on down and help clean our pond and have a hotdog. The Idaho Fish ad Game Trailer is scheduled to be here on Saturday from 4-8 pm. They will have poles to use and information about their programs and fishing in general.
Intermountain Gas is doing an inventory of meters in the community as well as pulling old lines. If they are working in your alley, they should be easily identifiable with their vehicles and uniforms. They will also be contacting some residents. If you have any questions, give Intermountain Gas Company a call.
Weiser High School is hosting the district baseball tournament this year so be aware of traffic around Walter Johnson Memorial Park and Field. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 5 and will continue May 8th, 9th, and 10th. They love to have spectators to cheer on the teams from around the district. There is a charge so be aware if you are planning on going.
Work is beginning on the opening of the Community Swimming Pool this week. Cleaning and the purchase of needed chemicals has begun. It takes about three weeks to get the pool cleaned and filled. Then training for the guards begins. The pool is scheduled to open on Memorial Day Weekend.
