Another Fiddle Week is in the books. Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers of the many events for your work and organization. The week seemed to go smoothly.
Thank you to the parade participants. It was a special parade to have our Honorable Governor, Brad Little and Miss Idaho, Grace Zimmerman along with Grand Marshall Lila Harper leading the way.
The 4th of July banner is going up and preparations for the 4th of July Veterans’ March are in progress. This year our 4th of July celebration is going to be a special celebration. The City will be honoring former Mayor John Walker at our celebration this year.
There will be a Veterans’ March beginning at the Depot and progressing up State Street to the Veterans’ Park. A float is available for veterans to ride on if they are not able to march. The march gathering will begin at 10:30 am and start down the street at 11:00 am. Family and friends are encouraged to join the veterans on bikes and walking to honor our veterans.
At this time, I ask all current and retired military personnel to appear on July 4, 2019 at the Weiser Depot to muster for the annual Fourth of July Veterans’ March. Troops are commanded to report at 10:30 a.m. in service dress, if possible, for preparation to march up State Street to Veterans’ Park for the flag ceremony.
Following the march, there will be fly-over by the Air National Guard honoring Ret. Lt. Colonel, John Walker. Please join us in this celebration.
Over the next week the City Fire Department will begin their preparations for the fireworks display to be held 4th of July night after dark usually around 10:30. Thanks to the donations from many in and outside the community, the department is planning another outstanding display. The week, they will be testing some of the equipment at the soccer complex on Wednesday, June 26.
Fireworks are currently being sold in the City limits. Please be respectful of veterans and animals when setting off legal fireworks. Even the legal displays can be unsettling to our veterans and furry friends as well as many children.
The residents serviced by the 16th feeder have been experiencing power bumps. The Electric Department has been following the reports and trying to find the source. We have also had Idaho Power monitoring lines to pinpoint the location of the problems. At this time the bumps have not lasted long enough to register on the monitoring equipment. We will continue to look for the source of the problem to repair the line. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
There are ongoing questions about burn bans in the area. Currently, the City of Weiser does not have a burn ban in place. Watch the local media for any changes through the summer.
A large group of young people will be doing community service projects throughout the area on Wednesday, June 26. Some will be working along the streets painting yellow lines. Please watch for these young people and drive carefully where ever they are working.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and please drive carefully while vacationing and recreating.
