2020, remember when we weren’t sure we would survive 2000. This has ben another year of change in our community.
It is great to look back and see the new Ridley’s, the remodeling of the Leen Building progressing and the beginning development on the old Ridley’s property. The housing market has moved steadily this year and many people are looking for the opportunity to find their home in Weiser.
Have you set new goals for the New Year? I’ve not been very successful with resolutions in the past so I am hoping goals will be more achievable and yes, I actually have some. As I have shared with many folks wondering what I am going to do with my time, I am planning to learn to play the ukulele. Big Smile. For Christmas, I bought myself and each of my three grandchildren ukuleles from Picker’s Paradise. Thanks Ken, for helping me “pick” them out. I figure the kids and I will challenge each other to reach the goal. Maybe that’s the answer to keeping resolutions or reaching goals, achieve them with someone else alongside.
I also plan to do some more reading and spend more time studying my Bible. The Rolling Hills Golf Course looks like another great place to work on a goal. I know there are always lots of people willing to tell me how to do it right.
A new year presents lots of new challenges for me when I look for new adventures and the same is probably true for you. Let me know how your goals or resolutions are going when you see me wondering around in 2020.
As the Christmas season comes to an end, the City crews will be taking down the decorations and storing them for another year. The crews are also busy with ongoing maintenance at the water and wastewater plants.
The Street Department expects to finish the leaf pick up this week. They will also continue trimming trees along the street rights-of-way. The Electric Department is also continuing tree trimming over service lines. If you have trees that fall in either of these categories, contact the office, 208-414-1965.
The Street Department will also pick up real Christmas trees next week. Place the trees along the curb and the crew will pick them up as they see them or you can call the office to let them know. Please do not place them in the alley next to the trash as it hampers the garbage pick up. There is no charge for the disposal. This is another service provided by the City for residents.
Have a very Happy New Year. Enjoy the celebration responsibly and safely. Do not attempt to walk home in freezing weather. Remember if you celebrate heartily to have a designated driver, stay at home to celebrate, or call a family member or friend to get you home safely.
Happy and blessed 2020.
